    GMAT Structure

    The GMAT is composed of four sections:

    • Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA)
    • Integrated Reasoning (IR)
    • Quantitative
    • Verbal

    The GMAT requires 4 hours of testing time, including the breaks you may require.

    Examinees are allowed 30 minutes each for the Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) and Integrated Reasoning (IR) sections. Meanwhile, they are given 75 minutes to appear for 37 questions of the Quantitative section and another 75 minutes for 41 questions of the Verbal section. Both the Quantitative and Verbal sections are of multiple-choice pattern.

    GMAT Scoring Grid

    A candidate’s final GMAT score can range from 200 to 800 and is based on a scaled accumulation of the Verbal and Quantitative scores. The Analytical Writing Assessment and Integrated Reasoning sections of the test are allotted independent scores, which do not account for the final test score.

    Old GMAT vs New GMAT

    Test takers who appeared for the old GMAT, could follow only one pattern of writing for the four sections, that is: Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative, and Verbal. 2017 onwards, the GMAC announced that the sections of the GMAT can be hence attempted in three different orders, one of which can be chosen by the examinee at the beginning of the test.

    The two new orders are:
    1. Verbal, Quantitative, Integrated Reasoning, Analytical Writing Assessment
    2 .Quantitative, Verbal, Integrated Reasoning, Analytical Writing Assessment

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    How many universities accept GMAT scores?

    If you take GMAT exam the sixth time in a period of 12 months, then your scores will be nullified and you will barred from taking the GMAT exam in future.

    Yes, in this case, you are eligible to retake the exam. However, do understand that you cannot appear for the exam more than eight times in a lifetime.

    This depends on your dedication and the quality time you are willing to spend on preparation. We recommend at least 60 days, including 15 days for self-preparation and taking/reviewing mocks before exam day.

    You can cancel the exam in the middle of your attempt, with a benefit of its score standing invalid, thereby the score being counted as a fulfilled attempt.

    It takes $250 to appear once for the GMAT, which approximately translates to about 16000 INR. There is no penalty or fine charged whatsoever for appearing more than once.

    You can see your unofficial (preliminary) GMAT scores immediately after you finish the exam.

    The average student scores between 400 and 600 in the GMAT, and the maximum score you can obtain is 800.

    GMAT is not mandatory in certain B-Schools, if you have already appeared for GRE. We advise you to check the official scores taken by the University of your Choice for admission procedures before appearing for either of the exams.

    You can take the GMAT exam once every 16 calendar days, but not more than five times in a given year.
